Animating the Assembly of a Cheeseburger
Concepts and Objectives
My animation concept shows a scene of a cheeseburger being assembled. The main objective was to achieve a seamless blend of static elements and dynamic movements to create an engaging animation. The animation was designed to look both aesthetically pleasing and incorporate realistic movements to enhance the viewing experience.
Sketching and Storyboarding
My sketching process involved brainstorming the sequence of events and important elements needed to bring the animation to life. While sketching out my storyboards, I mapped out the flow of the animation. I tried to focus on transitions and timing to make sure the narrative would be smooth.
Vector Assets
Each asset was meticulously crafted in Adobe Illustrator, paying close attention to details to maintain consistency and quality across all my elements.
Draft
In my drafting and development phase, I used my sketches and refined the movements and interactions between the objects. After completing a draft of my animation and receiving feedback, I decided I wanted to adjust things, such as how the plate moves to make it look more realistic. I put a lot of thought into the path and bounce of ingredients as they landed on the plate and burger. I also paid special attention to the lettuce, cheese, and mayo to incorporate subtle changes like curled lettuce edges and drooping cheese and condiments to add layers of realism to my animation.
Final Product
This animation successfully achieves the objectives. I carefully considered the composition and design so that the animation is visually appealing even as a still. It also uses looping to ensure a continuous and enhanced experience for the viewer. The attention to detail in asset creation and animation, such as including bouncing, wafting, and dripping effects, adds depth to the scene to elevate the animation’s overall quality.
